The ancient City of Petra
The ancient city of Petra. 1) Petra is thousands of years old. It's found in Jordan which is a country in the middle east. 2) The whole city is carved out of the rock. 3) This is called an amphitheater where people were entertained. 4) Nobody knows who built it but the Nabataeans made it their capital city around 3000 years ago. More than 20,000 people lived there. 5) After the Nabataeans, the Romans took over. They came from Italy. 6) This is the way to get to the city of Petra. 7) There are two famous building in the city of Petra. This one is the Monastery building. It is high up in the mountains 8) The Monastery entrance has a ramp and steps but they are buried under the sand. 9) The Treasury is the most famous and was in an Indiana Jones movie. It is the first thing you see when you arrive. 10) The Romans left after an earthquake and Petra was lost until it was rediscovered 200 years ago.
